念Advanced Training Page

Our 念Advanced Training page has info relevant to members and practitioners with ten years of training or more, but everyone is invited to take a look and use it.

Yambayashi training is built on a foundation of self-defense skill: strength, speed, flexibility, endurance, experience and precision tactics. The pressure and risk required to develop these is as indispensable for deep advanced training as it is for practical self-defense.

We build on this foundation.

The Advanced Training page will have notes on mind training, source and reference material, and points of view which are useful but too long and detailed to share in class.

Topics will include:

Introduction to the techniques of Whole-Body Awareness

Unification of the Body

Unification of the Body and Mind

Unification of the Body, Mind and Will

“Return to the source” for Deep Karate – contrast Zen and Nikaya approach

Contemplation of the Body for Martial Artists

The Moral Foundations of Proper Training

Mind/Body/Target Energy Convergence

Exchanges with Sogen Sakiyama Roshi of Okinawa

Others

There are also hundreds of other articles by Jeff Brooks at “Posts” and at the “Links” page, on martial training, values, techniques and culture.

Mind training is essential for the practical application of martial skills. It gets results in all dimensions of life. In the dojo. In moments of reflection. But not only then.
