Bunkai: Passai anti-choke

Bunkai: Passai – Anti-Choke

The kata defends chudan, deflecting a front punch

The attacker jumps in and attempts a choke with two hands

The kata applies two jodan uke to deflect the choke

This exposes the opponent’s neck and makes the muscles supporting the collarbones loose

The kata applies downward uraken backfist strikes to the collarbones, taking the arms out

If the opponent is in range and his arms are away from the center

Then this move can be applied as two hammer fists to the carotid sinuses, a baroreceptor knockout target

With the opponent destabilized the side punch is applied as the finishing technique

“One of the best books I’ve read in years, inviting and compelling. Jeff Brooks moves effortlessly from martial arts to Buddhism to consciousness studies, self-transformation, and related fields in this wide-ranging and Illuminating study that has much to offer both novice explorers and veteran practitioners. A splendid achievement.”
